MiCo (Milano Congressi), Fiera Milano Congressi center in town, will host a significant part of the 7th World Meeting of Families, scheduled from May 29th through June 3rd in Milan. Three events will be hosted by MiCo: the International Family Fair, the Theological Pastoral Congress, and the “Youth Congress”.
On this occasion, MiCo, the largest congress center in Europe, will place at the disposal of the Pastoral Congress (May 30th – June 1st) over 6,000 seats, in the different rooms of the center: among these, the Gold room (4,000 seats) and the Auditorium room (1,500 seats).
MiCo accommodation capacity and technological and support structures ensure best reception facilities for an event which is expected to host many thousands of attendees: more than a half of them will come from abroad (in particular, from South America, Europe, and Africa), and 900 young people are awaited for the “Youth Congress”. Moreover, in order to meet the catering demand, four fix points (among which there will be a restaurant) and other mobile points will be available: 4,000 orders a day for three days are expected. MiCo indoor and outdoor spaces will be included in the creation of a true garden allowing welcoming, creating, narrating, and praying activities. More than 100 organizers will be involved.
On Thursday 31st May, Fiera Milano Congressi will have to face a further challenge: in the afternoon, congress participants’ transfer will be organized towards a series of dioceses in Lombardy: 80 busses will be used for this operation.
Even the Family Fair, a brand-new initiative in Italy, scheduled from May 29th, will be physically located in MiCo, on a 8,000 square meter surface. The area will host 100 stands, a 2,000 square meter play area, 2 photo exhibitions, a library, an Agora devoted to participants’ meetings, as well as the equipment to follow moments of the Congress outside the rooms where discussions are held. Among the stands, there will be also the stand by Accademia, Fondazione Fiera Milano training center, where it will be possible to gather information and subscribe to the new events by PROGEA – Master degree in design and organization of exhibitions, events and points of sale, and postgraduate course in marketing and event organization – specialization in exhibitions and congresses.
Entrance for the general public, visitors and congress participants will be at Fieramilanocity Gate 3 - Viale Scarampo.
MiCo will also organize the media center of the 7thWorld Meeting of Families. Two areas will be devoted to press (MiCo – Nord): an area for TV/radio boxes at the first floor and a press room at the second floor. Up to 700 work stations will be fitted out for the over 1,000 journalists accredited so far.
