Milan Social Media Week kicks off
From today until 16 June, the Social Media Week will be bringing to life the coWorking Space Talent Garden, in Via Calabiana in Milan. The event, organised by Business International– Fiera Milano Media (formerly the organiser of the Rome edition and other important events for the digital community such as SMXL Milan and eMetrics Summit) and with the patronage of the Municipality of Milan, will see a series of panels of speakers, companies and influencers from the web and digital world.
“We are very pleased to organise also the Milan edition of Social Media Week” said Antonio Greco, CEO of Fiera Milano Media. “Which we decided to give a more business-to-business slant, also to express the power of social media as a valid communication tool for promoting “Made in Italy” worldwide. This year's theme - continued Greco – will be ‘Language and the Machine (Algorithms and the Future of Communication), a look at how artificial intelligence and algorithms will impact on everybody’s language and way of communicating”.
This edition of Social Media Week brings with it some important novelties, like the SMW passport, which will allow you to register for all appointments, and the SMW app, through which you can consult the agenda, find out about the speakers and contact other participants. Just download the Topi app from AppStore (IOS) or from PlayStore (Android) and enter the code smwmilan.
The event will also be marked by new attention to content, which besides the themes of the social and digital world, will include important topics in the field of innovation, like, for example, artificial intelligence. To allow for greater variety of disciplines and a more business-oriented approach, the formats will be evolving too, with the introduction of workshops, round table discussions open to the public, and laboratories.
For the first time, the calendar of Social Media Week will be making space for slots organised by leading trade fair events conceived and organised by Gruppo Fiera Milano. For example, on 13 June at 16.30, the panel entitled “The community is the message! Overlapping layers of digital worlds on the real world” (Sovrapponendo layer di mondi digitali sul mondo reale), will be taking place, hosted by Homi, the Fiera Milano exhibition devoted to people and lifestyles. The International Tourism Exchange (BIT) will be hosting two appointments: on 13 June at 18.00, “Emotional Marketing for tourism” (Marketing emozionale per il Turismo) and on 14 June at 9.00, “Best in Travel – Planning dialogues for modern tourists” (Best in Travel – Progettare dialoghi per i turisti moderni). Host, the fair dedicated to Ho.Re.Ca, foodservice, retail, Mass Retail and hotellerie, on 14 June will be featured at the meeting “Communicating in catering” (Comunicare nella ristorazione) at 11.00, and at the event “Social Chef Strategy: the ingredients of online Catering” (gli ingredienti della Ristorazione online) at 11.30. Again, on 14 June at 18.00, Fondazione Fiera Milano, which promotes the creation of economic, social, cultural and scientific development initiatives, will be hosting the talk “Open innovation for small businesses: can associations and trade fairs be useful? (associazioni e fiere possono essere utili?)
